(Did I do this right? I've never really posted in an online forum before. I'm hoping this ends up in the right place!)

Hi there! My name's Angie, and I'm a USNA candidate for the class of 2019. I am medically and physically qualified, and have a nomination from my MOC. I'm not sure if I'm scholastically qualified (I understand that the Academy won't tell you or your BGO if you are/are not), but hopefully my 4.0 GPA and straight-A record is enough to get me triple-q'd.

In terms of ECAs, I'm editor of the school Newspaper and Yearbook, a member of the Drama Club and Pit Orchestra (so often I have to pick one or the other; I can't be on stage and in the pit at the same time, which is unfortunate, because I love doing both!), a founding member of the Math Club, a founding member of Diplomacy Club (mock war; last year the club's theme was WWI, this year it's the Persian Wars), a member of Running Club, and a member of prom committee (I don't think that counts as an ECA, though! haha). If you were hoping to see competitive sports somewhere in there, sorry to disappoint. My school doesn't offer sports, and when I attempted to get involved with public school and township sports, I was rudely denied the opportunity to do so because I didn't attend the local public school.

Outside of school, I participate in traditional Shotokan Karate and spend my free time volunteering at my local fire department as a Junior Firefighter (incase anyone's interested, I have certs in FFI, BVR-A, BVR-O, HM-A, and HM-O).

So now that all that's out of the way, I can say the "less-important" stuff. I'm a dog-lover, a math and physics nerd, and I will be the first in my family to attend college. I want to study Nuclear Engineering and, most importantly, I want to serve my country and uphold the Constitution and the freedoms it gives us through a career in the United States Marine Corps!

So yeah, that's me in a rather large nutshell. Anyone else from Philly? Any other Firefighters? I'd love to talk with some of you! Actually, I'd love to talk with all of you!

Best of luck to all of you who are Academy Candidates like myself; my fingers are crossed for all of us!

Welcome Angie9715!

Do your research - there are multiple ways to become a Marine Officer including USNA, NROTC and PLC.

Good luck.
