Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for the great info in this forum. My DD is applying to the USNA (VA-10). The waiting is worse than the application process! I really appreciate all of the regular posters, many of whom may have gone through this process long ago. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

I'll continue to lurk for now but wanted to post a quick hello and offer my gratitude! Good luck to all of the candidates!

Yes! And I have met a few battle buddies here, for each of my sons classes. Good friends beyond SAF’s. The support here is pretty neat.

- waiting/lurking here w/ you .... DS also applied to USNA (IL). I think they encourage the plans B - D,E,F etc just to keep us all busy . “There is some sort of update on your DoDMERB site? Ohhhh...I’ll come by in a little bit to look ...so that I can over analyze that for the next 24 hrs.” It’s quite a roller coaster ride but sure has been a growing opportunity.....plus new joke material.... He got a “no” from MoC ... thankfully he got a nom from a Senator later so now we joke about the Congressman ... a lot.... “Umm... that’s a hard no for me, aka as a Casten no.” “Another flyer from Casten? Let me use it to start the fire ...” Very lame jokes; but at least we have some laughs...

Hi and welcome! USNA plebe mom here. I don't know how we would have navigated the process of nomination and SA applications without the benefit of the vastly experienced and sage counsel from the forum.
It continues to help me as a plebe mom and I forward posts to our DS that I think would benefit him.
Also, as @justdoit19 noted, several friendships have popped up virtually via this forum and have been great sources of support and laughter. Good luck to your DD! And hang in there, it is a bumpy ride and will continue to be. Sometimes it even feels like you are on this coaster, upside down!

I know... She also applied for an NROTC scholarship. She didn't make the early boards but will hopefully be considered during the regular review.

You're right about that! How is your son adjusting? I'm assuming he got to come home for the holidays. Has he headed back to the yard yet?

You're right about that! How is your son adjusting? I'm assuming he got to come home for the holidays. Has he headed back to the yard yet?

I have loved having him home. Yesterday he worked his PRT and I walked slowly behind. We had great chats on the 1.5 miles back. He misses his mentors. He hopes his firsties that have been his mentors are present on the yard. He will miss us but will look forward to his future training and makes this mom smile when he heads out next week.

Thank you! I’ve analyzed that to death too .... why that one but not a MoC nom, was it because Senator had 2 spots open & DS is ranked #20, why in his email to DS did he say “I’m certain you’ll be hearing from the Naval academy soon...” blah, blah, blah .... just letting it all go at this point! Hopefully he’ll have a spot at either USNA or in the NROTC.... we’ll see . Good luck !!
