    Hi everyone!

I’m currently an 8th grader (whose had her eyes on the SAs and ROTC since she was seven-years-old), and I’ve finally decided to make an account on this forum. I know I am not in high school quite yet, but I believe that it isn’t to early to embark on the long journey ahead of me! I’m looking forward to learning more from this forum everyday, and I will certainly ask any questions that I may have.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!
Have you narrowed down which branch or branches interest you the most? Or are you still feeling out all of your options?

@LacrosseGoalieGirl, it’s never too soon if your goal is to become a commissioned officer. You’re wise to know there are several paths one can take — all noble and honorable.

DD and I visited USNA when she was in the 8th grade. As we passed some B&Bs just off the Yard, I explained that families booked way ahead for their mids’ graduations. To which she replied, “Well, Dad, if I get in, you’ll need to make a reservation right away.” She’s about to become a plebe-no-more, so I’d better get on it!

My main goal is USNA (as well as hopefully becoming a Marine pilot) but as long as I could reach my goal to serve as a commissioned officer in the world’s greatest military, I would be fine any place, whether another SA, ROTC, OCS, or PLC.

Sounds like a great plan. My recommendation is if you plan to apply to USNA, I would also apply for a Marine NROTC scholarship as a Plan B in case you aren't offered an appointment. Beyond that maintain high grades and get involved in leadership positions in a select group (1 or 2) unique extracurriculars in order to stand out. Feel free to PM me or ask questions to the forum at large for questions regarding Marine NROTC or paths to a commission. Good luck!
