Hi everyone!! I'm currently a cadet a USMA (now a yuk) and was looking back through my old cadet candidate things and came across this website again. I remember how useful this website was when I was first applying and how helpful everyone on here was with answering the many (trust me, many) questions I had about the application process, Beast, and just USMA in general. If anyone (not just CCs, parents too!) have any questions on anything USMA related (nothing is too small) please feel free to message me, or ask for an anonymous email I've created specifically for this purpose. (Also, I apologize if this is not the right place to post this). I look forward to speaking with you!

Would you give some tips regarding admission in regards to your GPA, composite ACT/SAT, and ECs?

Also, district?

Not trying to get too personal, I'd just like to know everything and anything regarding how you got in. Don't feel pressured just because I ask; if you feel it's too revealing, just say so. I understand. :)

So, My GPA when I graduated High School was somewhere around 3.5, I honestly can't remember what my SAT score was but I do know it was lower than average, and my EC activities included volunteering and playing sports. A lot of people think that USMA looks at the amount of stuff you've done (which is true in some sense) but they very much look at the quality of what you've done. After talking to some instructors, at least I've heard that they like to see people stick with a few things for an extended period of time and really put effort into those few things because that shows hard work and dedication. Even if your scores aren't the greatest, do not get discouraged, work on your physical and have the best CFA you can to balance it out!

- What would you say is your favorite thing about USMA?
- How was your experience at CBT? Any advice for how to prepare and do well?
- How was plebe year? Any advice on doing well during the academic year?
- What did you do this past summer? I know Buckner is included; did you complete an Army school, take a few weeks off...?
- What classes are you currently taking and how are your professors?

If you remember, what were your personal statements on?
Do you think they had a huge impact on your admission?

Son is a plebe, is pretty miserable. Academically doing well in advanced classes, all A's at 6 week mark, including Arabic, Physics and Differential Equations. Just started Military Movement, fears it will do him in. Any advice? He was fit enough to get in but more of a scholar than an athlete. Also seems pretty lonely.
