Help with Acronyms DS, DD

Hello,

My son just received an appointment to the USMA so I've found this forum to start researching about his life as a cadet and ours as USMA parents. Could someone please explain the acronyms DS and DD. I've figured out the second letter (son/daughter) but the meaning of the first is still a mystery.
