Hi, I am very interested in attending the U.S. Naval Accademy. I'm a sophomore in high school at the moment, here are some of my stats:

9th: Freshmen Soccer team, Tennis, All honors classes except for Advanced language (french 1) - all A's and some B's.

10th: AP Biology, Honors Algebra 2, Honors American Literature, Honors U.S. History, and an Advanced elective, planning on doing 50+ hours of community service, Tennis. (Currently prepping for SAT and ACT with the CollegeBoard study guides, not sure what my current GPA is - will get back to that)

I'm also hoping to play Varsity Soccer next year and in 12th year(might make captain), but I also need to find a leadership position in a club. I am physically fit, but what i'm wondering is what are the steps to applying?

I've visited the official USNA Admissions website and reviewed all of their steps and researched this for the last couple of weeks, so far I understand that in Spring of Junior year, I should apply for the Summer Seminar, I already signed the Request for Information Application. Also, what are some tips to improve my current high school record? Is it too late to have a good chance of getting an appointment?

The only "hole" I see in what you posted is leadership, as you reconized. Leadership in some club, preferably some organization that does community service as well. Seems to me Boy's State occurs after junior year. What about student government?

Also, my mid tells me it is not a bad idea to take ACT/SAT this year. So that you are prepared when you take it as a junior for when it really "counts."

I haven't heard of our school having a student government but i'll definitely look into it. I've taken the PSAT several times already, in 8th and 9th grade, and I took it this year again already - I am aiming for 640-700 in all categories and I feel like I have a good chance.

Thanks for your reply

EDIT: Just checked the school website and we do have Student Governemnt, I'll enroll in that and hopefully have some leadership position by senior year (Treasurer?). Also, I am currently in Society of Young Scholars and will probably be in National Honor Society since I was in National Junior Honor Society in my middle school academy.
