Yeah, but you're biased!!!I don't know that I'd call arty "a more controlled option than an airstrike," but that's just me.
Hey Bull! Long time no hear! I moved from Central NC to the coast last summer... about 30 miles south of Camp Lejuene. I frequently hear "the sound of freedom" in the evening and at night, as your compatriots in the Corps do their thing. Oh yeah, then there's the helos and Ospreys overhead during they day, but I thought you'd be interested in the former... just for kicks.Ask an Infantrymen who their favorite people are to have around... JTAC's and Fire Supporters.
A Firebase within covering distance might be the ground pounders best friend. FACS were good but only if the support aircraft was orbiting nearby. They sometimes take awhile.
One word... TopsailI spent 5 teenage summers on Bogue Sound.
Sail over to Salter Path with a short walk to the ocean. All day sail to Emerald Isle. Motor to Shackleford Banks. Watching them run the day's catch through a bandsaw at Ottis' before having soft shell crab at Tony's Sanitary.
When we took the kids to the beach we returned to Emerald Isle.
There is no place better place...
ALTHOUGH, DS's next duty station is Eglin AFB, Destin, FL. A close second.
