On the DODMERB site today my son's status for USNA changed from "Pending Waiver Review" to the following "Waiver Granted" (and the following):

D224.90 - Chronic retro patellar knee pain syndrome, history of
D257.70 - Unaided distant visual acuity worse than 20/40
D259.10 - Waiver Approved - USNA :)

Does the latter mean that he's gotten the waiver for BOTH of the DQ's, i.e the knees AND the eyes? If so, does that mean that perhaps his file was just reviewed by USNA and that they're ready to make a decision on him? His Nom and SQ'd letter are already in place....

Thanks for any advise!

PS note the USAFA also gave him the waiver(s) but that was weeks ago...

First off, congrats on the waiver! I know its been a long time, and probably a couple of sleepless nights thrown in as well.

The waiver is for the "D224.90 - Chronic retro patellar knee pain syndrome, history of". The "D257.70 - Unaided distant visual acuity worse than 20/40" is an administrative item, and the only way to know that its granted is when your son receives his offer from USNA.

On the plus side, you now know that USNA thought enough of your son's file to forward it to the waiver authority, so he is definitely a competitive candidate!

There is light at the end of the tunnel and I'm hoping he gets his offer!
