I just came across this page when I was researching about the Academy. My name is Kathy. I'm a junior in high school. I am 15 years old, probably the youngest of my class! Some activities in school which I participate in are Newspaper, Track, Chemistry Club and the Key Club (community service related). I have a GPA of 3.9 and taking honor classes. I also go to a Polish high school on the weekends. It's been a dream of mine to join the Air Force, giving credit to my brother who has inspired me. I decided late this summer to try to get into the Academy, so I guess you could say I'm a "noob". I am trying to get as much information as possible to increase my chances of getting in. It all looks so amazing and breath-taking.

Thank you!

I also am thinking about looking into some colleges in Illinois from the Air Force ROTC.

Welcome to the forums! If you have any questions ask away, there's pretty much a thread on the USAFA forum for any question(s) you have about USAFA. I used to live by Chicago-in a town called Niles. Good luck on your endeavors!

hey well i'm a freshman at USAFA from the chicago suburbs. let me know if you have any specific questions because I can probably be of the most help to you. You don't really have anything to do right now, but starting this spring start talking to you congressman and our Senators. Also I think starting March 1 you can do the initial application online. They should give you your ALO and other contact information after that. For the mean time, just work out, keep looking at other schools, etc.

Kthy-

Note that you have to be 17 years old to be eligible.

i know of people who didn't turn 17 until almost recognition time. As long as you're 17 when you enter, you're fine.

Don't worry about your age, I'm in the same boat! I'm a senior and won't turn 17 until later this month... many of my classmates are already 18! The only kid in my grade who is younger than me skipped a grade.

Oh i am pretty sure I'll be 17 by the time I try to enroll. :)

Are ALO's a good resource too? There is one in my area that I have found on the Air Force website.
