The next Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force was announced earlier...

Chief Master Sergeant JoAnne Bass will assume the position from CMSgtAF Kaleth Wright.

Chief Master Sgt. JoAnne Bass will become the 19th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, as the first female enlisted Airman to lead a military service.

I am literally taking to a friend right now and he said the same thing. He wrote, "The outgoing CMSAF is a friend from time in Germany and simply kicked ass for the AF." And went on to say she has big shoes to fill etc.

The senior enlisted from the Navy and Marines are very visible, especially with the capabilities of social media.

From my experience...the VERY junior may not, but most NCO's do know who the CMSAF is, if for no other reason that it's in their PME.
