I read a post from a couple years ago that Hold Status on your application is not a bad thing. My son was just recently put on Hold and we're all concerned he won't get in. Should we be worried? How many candidates are typically accepted from California? I appreciate any help or advice to ease our (my) stress! Thank you!

There are extensive threads on this if you search a little. California gets quite a few slots. If you don't make the first cut, then you go into the national pool. Hold Status is very normal though. Hey, this is just the beginning though. Buckle up, it's going to be a rough ride. If your kid actually does get in, you're going to look back on these days and laugh, believe me.

Looks like we're in the National Pool, so we're just sitting here, patiently waiting. I appreciate your response!

As @NorCal Parent has indicated, California is allocated quite a few slots. 19 as of the current 46 CFR § 310.53 - Nominations and vacancies

See https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/46/310.53 for additional information.
