Hospital purged medical records

Hello,
Per admissions recommendation, I'm starting to gather medical records for DS. He was hospitalized twice.. at 5 days old for jaundice & 1 yr old for rotovirus to get fluids. Such silly, simple things. However, I received a letter from the hospital saying everything before 2008 has been purged. Unfortunately, his pediatrician's record said "referred to hospital", so we can't just sweep it away & will most likely be questioned on it.
Has anyone ran into similar problems where the records simply do not exist?

I find it hard to believe common illnesses at that age will be an issue. Just include the letter from the hospital stating the records have been purged.

DS, an active duty officer, actually has an issue where he can't get his similar jaundice records from the hospital or doctor. He's simply including the letters that state they have been purged in his package (long story).

You can only do what you can do provided you've exhausted every avenue to get the records. Just one man's opinion.

Ok, we went thru this last year. I understand the recommendation part. Have you printed the actual medical questionnaire? I suggest to carefully go over it line by line especially hunting down in reference to a five days old jaundice and one year old roto virus.

I have reviewed the form. It's in the "any hospitalizations". I wouldn't include it except his primary pediatricians records lists the hospital referrals. Did you lose the records too? What did you do?

There is a place to explain the hospitalizations. Just list the hospitalizations, the dates, and what each was for. You don't need medical records unless they ask for them, and I highly doubt they would be concerned about something like that.

Our issue was non-existent records. Dodmrb raised the flag about a "phone call" reference on the medical records. It created a medical issue. The primary care doctor wrote a formal letter to dodmrb. It was resolved eventually.

We had trouble getting older records, Dr. Letters explaining and a personal statement that you weren't able to get anything older and why is helpful.

I wouldn’t worry about this or overthink it. So many factors have to play out, for it to even be an issue. And it may not even BE an issue (hat too to @kinnem…but I’m not DODMERB).

Is this a general request of admissions? Or a specific one? At this stage, imo, I wouldn’t loose sleep. There are ways to deal with such issues. And, again, it may not even be an issue. No clue. It may not be an AMI. It may not be addressed on the questionnaire. I had one who had tonsils out at age 5. Nothing further needed after answering the question.
