Do fresh Ensigns receive BAH during the leave after graduation? Also how long do new ENS get to PCS into their new duty station and is this in addition to the leave?

I believe what you are referring to is what is commonly called "basket leave", and as it is not PCS or even TDY then I would venture a guess that BAH is NOT payable, but that BAS or something akin to BAS is. Sort of like back in 2020 when all the cadets/mids were home for the hole Spring Semester, they received an allowance of I think $12.00 a day to help with food, but nothing else.

As far as "travel time" (if I read your post correctly), that depends on the home of record and where the new duty station is. There is a chart the services us to determine travel mileage, temporary lodging, and days of travel allowed. As for if the get the whole 60 days "Basket Leave", even that is not set in stone. CGA Grads do not attend BOLC, but if the ship they are assigned to or the school they are headed to starts prior to the entire 60 day leave period, then that leave is lost and the new Officer has to report as directed.

"Basket Leave" is a "GIFT", the new officers are not formally charged for the time off, and cannot accrue any unused "Basket Leave", it is lost. Most (90%) of new officers in the CG get their whole leave, but be aware there are circumstances when they have to report early, especially to large cutters being deployed and advanced schooling (Pilot, Doctor, Cyber, etc).

For cadets graduating from USCGA, I believe most report within 30 days of graduation.

You report within 30 days of graduation, generally speaking. There are certain minimum amounts of time that you get to PCS if for some reason you don't get 30 days, but if you do, the expectation is that some of that time is used to complete the PCS. No extra time is granted in addition.

You get non locality bah. It’s like 800 a month until you report to your unit. In addition to a 400$ one time uniform allowance. You do not get comrats (the 12.50 mentioned by impulsive) but you do get BAS which is like 280 a month.

Also, contrary to what impulsive said you get 30 days of leave plus travel time. That 30 days plus travel time cannot be infringed upon by new command because they don’t own you until you report. You still belong to academy for those 30 days plus you travel time. If you report early because you want to meet the cutter stateside that is your prerogative. If you are going west coast you will get 40 days from graduation to report, if you are going to flight school you get 30 days from graduation.

Must be nice..:) Back when I was in you got squat after graduation, basic pay and a small amount for meals. Guess I was born in the wrong generation:) And only enlisted folks got any type of uniform allowance, officers had the to pay for their uni's.

What's your source on this? I never received a uniform allowance, and 30 days 100 percent is not guaranteed, and 30 days was absolutely not extended for any of my classmates.

I'm filling out the PCS paperwork for my ensign assignment right now. At least for the class of 2023, we are getting 30 days of leave + travel days. So if you are going to Alameda, you'll get 9 travel days (assuming you elect to drive there) in addition to your 30 days of leave.

The Academy is working really hard this year to make sure commands don't pressure cadets to show up before their leave is officially over. In the past, people have been told they have to show up early for whatever reason, and then they lost their remaining leave days. We've heard several times from instructors and company officers that reporting early is entirely up to if you WANT to do it.
