Hello Everyone!
I understand that it is impossible to have a secret formula of achievements to build the perfect profile for admission to USNA. However, I would be very much obliged if I could get some opinion on how I could better improve my profile.

I am currently a junior at one of the most competitive and academically challenging high schools in southern California. I have wanted to attend USNA since the 7th grade.
My highest ACT scores stand currently as follows:
Math: 31
Reading:31
Science:32
English:35
Writing:10/12
combined English/Writing: 33
GPA: 4.1 Weighted
My current classes are as follows:
AP Chemistry
AP World History
Honors European Literature (there is no alternative AP Class, but it is a challenging and weighted class)
Honors Pre- Calculus (same situation as English)
French 3

Civil Air Patrol (10,11): Currently working towards Billy Mitchell award, flight sergeant, flight commander, instructor at events, gives leadership experience

Awarded Overall Outstanding Candidate for my company at NASS.

Please let me know of any opinons you might have when reading through this profile.

Thank you so much for your time!

See the Sticky above -- NO ONE KNOWS .

You've got good tickets., and I would expect that Admissons would find you "QUALIFIED" for Admission (presuming that you get reasonable teacher recommendations). That being said, the other two Q's are CFA (I presume you did that at NASS) and Medical (purely your business). You have to be 3Q to be in the running.

However, keep in mind, even as a 3Q, you have to win your Nomination slate, and that's the great unknown. I expect Southern California has alot of candidates, and is highly competitive. That means many candidates with records as good as, or better than yours. Only advice there is to apply for all Nominations your are eligible for , as that gives you the best chance to win one of the slates (and gives Admissons more choices when it comes to matching 3Q candidates with Nominations).

Good luck.

You should take AP Calc if it's offered by your school. USNA is not a fan of statistics as a course. It's fine IF you've already taken the highest level math your h.s. offers but is not a substitute for calc.

I forgot to add but I am taking calculus next year.

I think you stand a great chance, unless Navy sees your name on this forum.
Thank you and about the name I would change it if I could... I made this account when I was all gung ho about the air force

Don't sweat it..there is nothing wrong with applying to multiple service academies, or even favoring one over the others. We are all on the same team, except for one weekend a year. Besides, USAF is an honorable alternative to serving in the military :)

I encourage applying to each of the academies. You are young, and between now and the time you would be going to college your perspective may change. Visit each school, and look into each of the services and the career options within each service. Do you want to serve your country and lead, or are you looking for a particular job, which is only available in one service?

After one year at West Point my son's perspective is very different than when he was applying. Indeed, he realized that he, like most academy applicants, had almost no real perspective back then, especially compared to what he knows now. He is still glad he chose USMA, and loves it, but he thinks it was foolish not to consider USCGA, and he never really gave USAFA a second thought after he got his appointment to WP, even though he had an appointment to USAFA in hand. He thought he knew what he wanted, so he didn't do due diligence in assessing his options. This is true with many kids, as there is a tendency to get locked into one school over the other, usually based on some romantic idea, rather that full objective assessment. So, open as many doors as you can. All are great options.

That was a joke. Have you considered Army?

We shame on you then!
Judge Brovol kids you.....The Army is not for everyone and he knows it!.

Just what are you interested in achieving in the military? You should consider casting a wide net over many branches if your goal is to serve as an officer. If you are fixated on Navy or AF for aviation reasons, that is a different matter.
