How are most of you alerted of your appointment?

While some people receive phone calls from their MOCs a few days prior to official notification, everyone receives the update on their portal.
 
Do these portal updates only happen overnight with the early morning email notification? In other words, unless you have an email waiting for you when you wake up, would it be a waste of time checking your portal during the day?

Both of my son’s emails arrived in the morning...back to back days - one sending him to his offer letter.... the other congratulating him on his decision and informing him that his packet with travel details... will be coming by the end of April.

Every portal update I have received was around 6AM EST, as reported by most others on the forum.
 
My son’s portal updated about 2 pm that he was now 3q - which meant his color blindness waiver was approved by Superintendent.
 
We found out by checking the portal every morning. It was updated about 6am EST. He received a call from his MOC a few days later. Appointment certificate and slew of emails came about a week later.

My son received 2 emails early this morning 3:48 and 3:50 concerning his appointment. Because he wasn't the principal nom, he hadn't looked at the portal for awhile. The portal actually updated on 3 Mar. Could have saved a week of wondering!!

Lesson learned, check the portal!
 
My son received an email that had come early in the morning to check his portal for appointment and there it was!!!
 
This was in the portal this morning at about 5am EST...

Yes, it’s normal. Sometimes you will find a change to your portal, but usually not.
 
I received a call from my Congresswoman notifying me that I have been offered an appointment. However, my portal did not update until three days later, once I got the update, I was able to accept the appointment.

This is normal. It happens every night as USAFA servers update information and potentially push offers of appointments to candidates. It usually happens 12:00-02:00 AM PST.
 
I received a phone call from my congressmen congratulating me on my appointment. Three days later my portal updated. Once I accepted, I received another notice that my appointment kit would be released March 1st. A few days ago I received my travel orders and report time.
All emails seem to generate around 4:50AM EST.
