Hello, I am a Junior for the class of 2022 and was planning on applying to USAFA, USMA, and USMMA (mainly USAFA because my ultimate goal is to become a pilot) and wanted some input on how competitive I look as an applicant. Thank you! (If there is anything for me to work on please tell me!)

-5.0 GPA (Fully accelerated course with all honors and AP and 2 years ahead in Math)
-Rank: 1/705
-SAT: 1490(700 on verbal and 790 on math)(plan to take it again this March)
-JV Tennis Sophomore year(was the team captain)
-Varsity Tennis Junior Year(am the captain of the team currently)
-Taekwondo(have been doing it for six year, is a second-degree black belt, and have been volunteering as an instructor at a dojo(over 100 hours))
-Class President
-Class Vice President
-UNICEF member
-Key Club Vice President and member(Will be President as a Senior)
-Korean Culture Club Secretary and Vice President(Will be President as a Senior)
-Varsity Orchestra and Stage Crew officer -Competed in All Region every year and made the top group. Competed in Solo and Ensemble and made it to State
-JROTC Element Leader
-JROTC Flight Sergeant
-JROTC Logistics Sergeant
-JROTC First Year Drill member, Sergeant, and Commander
-JROTC Second Year Drill Sergeant
-JROTC Color Gaurd Member
-JROTC Academic Bowl Member and Sergeant
-CLC(Cadet Leadership Camp) Distinguished Graduate
-Receiver of the Flight Academy Private Pilot Scholarship(A very competitive scholarship for AFJROTC Cadets that if received allows for them to go to a college and learn how to fly all summer and earn their Private Pilots License-the trip and everything is completely paid for by the government)
-Receiver of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award
-Volunteering as a teachers aid at a local Korean school every Saturday for 5 hours(Have accumulated hundreds of hours)
-Part of Church Youth Worship Team as the guitarist
-Founded an organization that tutors students from my high school and donates the profits to a local homeless shelter to help due to the Covid Pandemic

I will be in NHS next year and may go for an officer position if I feel like I can dedicate enough time into it. I also plan on applying for Boys State and being involved in my Civil Air Patrol once I earn my Private Pilots License.

Thank you for your input!

You look to be very competitive. What do you do in your spare time?
I generally don't have a lot of spare time because when I do I'm working on stuff for school. However, when I do I am either playing tennis with friends, working out, sleeping, or helping my family. If you think there is something I could be doing during my spare time please let me know and thank you for your input!

Sorry, I was joking. You look to be doing everything possible. Work on that CFA, do the best you can-start early. Have fun in what you're doing.

I see a lot of these "what are my chances" threads and usually have to say that no one here knows your odds. However, I'm going to go out on a limb and say your odds are pretty good. Unless you are in a crazy competitive state AND have someone else better than you come along, I see no reason why you wouldn't get in (assuming that you don't get disqualified by DoDMERB). Don't let off the gas pedal yet though!!

Yup - this is the first of these I have seen that I have thought - dang - someone that managed to fit just a tad MORE into their schedule than high school me ;) granted I spent a heck of a lot of time on the tennis court...because tennis is the best thing ever.

Keep it up, and make sure you enjoy everything in your laundry list of activities to help prevent burning out before you even get to USAFA. Good luck!

This is probably the best resume I’ve seen posted on SAF... but don’t let it get to your head. Don’t get lazy, it’s easy to do that when your at the top. Have the mentality that you’re at the bottom of the pack. That mentality will drive you to places you never thought you’d be, and don’t fall victim to the Senior Slide.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much, will do!
