I know USAFA is all on the portal but looking at old USNA forum threads people are saying you will not see an acceptance or rejection on the portal. Either you will get a MOC phone call or no call and a BFE or a TWE. Is that correct?

some have received calls from MOC, BGO, Coach et al while others have received an email instructing the candidate to check their portal.

Status updates do show up on portal, however if you receive an appointment and the MOC/BGO doesn't notify, you will receive an email from USNA which contains the letter of appointment. This email will be something along the lines of "Dear, XYZ, I am pleased to offer you an appointment..." The email is automatically generated as soon as the portal updates to "Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment" I think if you are not offered appointment, the email will ask you check the CIS portal. For me, as well as others, BFE arrived at least 1-2 weeks after the email/portal update.

My DS received a status change email for his LOA but for his actual appointment, he saw it on his portal and accepted before an email was generated, the next email was to acknowledge his acceptance. He did not get a phone call from MOC but he did receive a very nice "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" for his appointment shortly thereafter, it was dated 5 days before he knew he was appointed.

Many get a MOC phone call first. About (1-2) days later, he got an Email from USNA Admissions. He checked portal and it had already been updated to reflect offer of Appointment.

Maybe we would have relaxed a bit more in the following months had we re-read guaranteed. When you are going through it contingent is what stands out.
