I realize that it is impossible to get a yes or no answer when asking what my odds are of being accepted into an academy so I am looking for feedback on ways to improve my application and the best way to go about doing it.

High School Sophomore (HS Class of 2021)

I go to a large 4A private school in North Carolina with difficult academics and a great sports program

Academics:
- Unweighted GPA: 4.0
- Weighted GPA: 4.4
- Class Load: All Honors and AP that I am allowed to take
- PSAT (1310 out of 1520)
- Math= 680
- Reading= 630
- ACT not taken yet

Sports:
- I am a kicker on the JV football team and am one of the best nationally.
- I also play baseball but I play it more because I enjoy. (I suck at baseball)

Leadership:
- I am currently a life scout and I will definitely achieve Eagle some time in the next year.
- I was a Patrol Leader for two years and a member of the Order of the Arrow.
- I am on the leadership team for the football program.
- I have not started yet, but I intend to be part of student council for my Junior year.
- Planning on joining NHS later this year.

CFA: (My dad measured me using the right schedule for the test)
- Basketball throw= 86ft
- Pull-Ups= 13
- Shuttle= 8.07 s
- Sit-ups= 75
- Push-ups= 60
- Mile Run= 6:07

I expect these to go up as I keep practicing and get older.

If you've read to this point thank you very much and I would really appreciate it if you could give me some advice on some Extracurriculars to add to resume or if there is a way for me to improve on these stats.

Congrats on your decision to apply! I would suggest trying to make the varsity football team next year.

This is your guide. Class profile for 2022. How many of these categories can you highlight for yourself?
Simple factual data.

Good luck

No, we can’t “chance” you because there are too many variables we don’t know.

But since you asked how you can improve your chances, that’s easy: Get better at everything! Higher class rank, higher test scores, better CFA, greater leadership impact. You’re only a sophomore, which means you have plenty of time to improve across the board. Don’t get complacent, because it only takes one person in your district with a better WCS to beat you out. Best wishes to you.

I would definitely focus on getting more leadership on your resume. You still have plenty of time to find/create leadership opportunities and that can help set you apart. If you are one of the best kickers in the nation, why are you on JV? I am not trying to jump on you, but stating that you are one of the best in the nation, but still on JV, will definitely raise some eyebrows. You could also look into becoming a recruited athlete. I don't know USMA's process/timeline for this, but I am sure it is either on this forum or on their athletics website somewhere.

It on the athletics website. It's an application process as well, more of an information session really.

Our Varsity kicker is also ranked high nationally and he is a Senior this year which our coach puts a lot of value on.
