How early could I hear if I'm a recruited athlete?

I applied for EA and I got an email saying that my application had been scheduled for review and will be forwarded to the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board in the next two weeks and I will be notified of my admissions decision no later than December 23. I was wondering if I would possibly be notified earlier than that because I am being recruited for a sport?
 
I do not know a thing about the CGA admissions. So this is not an answer

But I have had many players and family members recruited for sports at other SAs

as soon as the coach made a verbal offer and the verbal offer was accepted we “relaxed” and knew we were in——-as long as the other stuff worked out.

In fact right after the offer was accepted the SA was announcing the commitment to the sports world.

There was still a lot of things that needed to be done, you always hope nothing pops up on the physical, and many other things to do.

But we knew we were good to go as long as the medical stuff etc worked out. So you never really relax.

Did your coach make a verbal offer for to you to attend that you accepted?

If we had “significant” questions we always called the coaches office.

How does CCA do it——I have no idea.

Class of 2024: First appointments/conditional appointments on 10 Dec

From my understanding, there are (at least) two steps in the admissions decision process. First, your packet is reviewed by two members of the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board. If both of those people give you a positive review, then your packet moves forward to be reviewed by the Committee which consists of several people including the Director of Admissions, other Admissions staff, at least one academic faculty member, an athletic faculty member (this is where the coach can provide input if you are a recruited athlete), and others. Together, the board makes a final decision.
If those first two reviewers give you a negative review, then you are done.
If those first two reviewers are split on their decision, then a third person reviews your packet to decide if you go before the committee.
 
CGA is a little different when it comes to being a recruited athlete than say the other 4 acadamies. Granted we do not know what goes on within the admissions process but coaches have little input when it comes to admission (by their own words), it lies with the whole admissions package. You will know as soon as the coach finds out.

Even at the other SAs the coaches will say they can’t get anyone admitted.

It’s always up to admissions they will say. The coaches do not meet with the admissions folks ..

But there is an academic type(s) that does sit on and meet with the admissions folks and they know full well who is highly recruited and who is a walk on.

This is usually not the case, as your coach may know after you and if they did get the news first they may not be the one to notify you anyway.

Most candidates get a call from their AO first.
 
My daughter was called by her coach as soon as he knew she was getting an appointment. He wanted to be the one to tell her before she saw in in Bears Den.
 
My son got the first call from his coach, followed by a call from his AO a few hours later.
 
My daughter was contacted by the coach and her AO the same day. The coach is actually the one that told her first.

From what has been stated by admitted cadets on SAF over the last few years, and from what we have seen with our experience along with many kids @ USCGA in the past few years this was not often the case. The "same day" (or a day later) scenario was more common.

Also may depend on the coach, AO, etc.

A - From my DS experience and what I have read in this forum the answer is Yes and No. No, they will not expedite the process because you are a recruited athlete but Yes the Coach is almost always the first to know and will call you with good news. For my DS, he was deferred which DS received notification through email not Coach. But in RA, DS received call from Coach with Prep appointment offer. It seems that Admissions allows Coaches the opportunity to communicate good news. My DS knew he was being offered something when he received call from Coach that wasn't at the normal scheduled weekly time. Best of luck and as you will see all over the forum, No news is good news, learn to be patient as this is just the beginning of what can be a long journey.
 
If you are otherwise highly qualified you could hear very early. Pre-covid, appointments started rolling out in October or November. The last couple years have been an anomaly. No one knows what to expect this year. You could hear as early as Thanksgiving, but definitely before Christmas. It’s coming soon.

A "Covid" year actually accelerated the notifications:
