how hard is it to get an nrotc scholarship

AeroMed,

No I was not saying it was a bad idea to have plan B. Quite the contrary it is the smartest thing to do. However, for some it is an all or nothing when it comes to an SA. Many will apply to every SA, and than their plan B is traditional university with no scholarship.

The reason why is because for them they will go ROTC, but want the chance to keep re-applying to the SAs, thus, they do not want to "lock" themselves into one particular branch until all of their SA chances are gone.

Remember the stats for SA appointees are very high, for most of them they will also get merit scholarships to other colleges. Our DS got accepted to UMiami with close to a 100K merit scholarship. Had he selected there, he would not have needed an AFROTC scholarship at all because between the scholarship and FAFSA he would have been totally covered.

Thanks Pima

I understand now. And this is so very, very true. These young men and women work so hard to get to this point, and they need to look at several ways to get to their goal.

You are a wise parent. Thanks!
