How many NAPS slots do you think are filled up right now?

None of us know. It's hard to judge by activity on the forum. I believe you are fleet applicant? It is not uncommon for you guys to hear in late March/early April. Hang in there.

Rooting for all of you! A little salt helps the Brigade.

I will forever be grateful to my prior enlisted roommate at OCS. Shoeshine magic, uniform wear, racks, room inspections, Navy terminology, slang, marching - she had all the gouge, tricks, tips. In turn, I helped her with engineering principles, celestial nav, swimming, writing, critical thinking and analysis. We were a great team in USS BUTTERCUP. We are still in touch.

For readers wondering about good ol' BUTTERCUP:

Nice little video of Sea Cadets in BUTTERCUP:

Sorry to wander off ... just had a surge of memory triggered by thinking of OC Last Name of Roomie.

CAPT, I thought Buttercup was a name you made up! :) The one I know is USS Neverdock!

I'm hanging! I know for a fact that as of two weeks ago my package has not gone to the board yet. I just worry by the time my package gets seen, there will be no slots left.

Will other NAP candidates hear by the same April 15th deadline?

Not sure what you are asking. Are you asking for those at NAPS will they hear by April 15th? If that is what is being asked, they usually hear in early May or late April. It usually done in a mass wave up there. If they are borderline they will wait until their last trimester grades are received.

We hope so but we do not have a nom and there are only about 240 slots. The young scholars here are VERY stiff competition. He has been in rarified air with each of you. Good luck and enjoy your next few years. I can honestly say it will be fun and the biggest challenge you will ever face.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been thinking about you all. :). Wow. Those Navy twes can come at any time. Navy is sending them out all hours of the day. Even on a Friday night!! Air Force seems to always be about 4/5 am. Son knows everyday before he leaves for 5:30 am practice whether he's survived another day at candidate status. Hang in there. Hope you hear good news from USAFA soon.

DS emailed admissions counselor at USAFA and received a voice mail that did not sound encouraging. She said that all that are NOT accepted should know by the end of next week. Remember we DO NOT have a nom, we have a recommendation from the MOC to the prep school. Initially in January she had no idea what this recommendation was and had to go to the admission board to ask what it was but in her voice mail yesterday she made it sound like everyone received one and it that it was not important. Kind of rattled me and his dad. We know that it MIGHT be more statistically probable to win the lotto at this point.

We could not tell if she was just going through her "OMG if one more candidate calls me" spiel because part of it was involving his numbers and another part seemed rote.

We are Christian and believe that Gods plan will place him where he belongs. He's plan B is a full ride for baseball. He loves baseball. He hopes he doesn't get to play next year because he will be at the USAFA prep school. Apparently next week will be telling for a lot of us. It has been fun getting to know such great young men and women as welll as parents on this forum. We are truly blessed to be in such excellent company.
