womdering if “boarded” actually means winner early or if people came from “boarded/under consideration” to winner as well. Congrats to all the winners!!! I’ll try again on the next board!

DS received 4 year winner notification today! He was "boarded/under consideration" after first round, moved to "boarded" this week, and school of intent page was "write only" for the past few day. Good luck to you and have patience! It's exhausting, but worth it!

Congrats to your DS! And thanks I’ll definitely need it!

My DD went from Boarded/under consideration after first round to Boarded this week. Today she received 4 year scholarship. School of intent page was “read only”.

DS was changed to boarded yesterday and was notified of 3-year scholarship to his top 3 schools today! So happy!

4-yr. to 3 schools. Also went from "boarded/under consideration" to "boarded" to "school of intent page is currently read only" and DS added one of his schools less than 10 days ago before it locked.

Hmmm. IT DOES seem as though “Boarded” is an early sign of winning.
Not really. Nearly everyone who is awarded a scholarship will move to boarded (but not all). Not everyone who is boarded is awarded a scholarship. Boarded only means they've looked at it. In some cases it's been looked at and a scholarship awarded before the status could change to boarded.

I never changed to Boarded. I was always Boarded/Under Consideration.

I wouldn't read much into that either. They may or may not have looked at your package yet but they certainly will on the third board when they will get through them all. They are also not the most impressive organization in terms of keeping the status up to date.

So you’re saying it’s possible I was never even looked at? That doesn’t seem right or fair.

@Minimalmaple28 There is only so much time and so many people to review thousands of applications. They WILL look through all applications at the final board. Personally I would guess it's been looked at but I don't know that and the status, as I said, is never a great indicator. BTW - life isn't fair. Get used to it.

The status says boarded/ under consideration so yes you were boarded just not selected from the last two boards. At least that is what we have been told by several ROOs and even Clarkson mentioned that in an earlier post I believe. BTW.. I don’t understand why people have to be so snippy on here sometimes, emotions are running high with some of these kids, yes life isn’t fair but there is absolutely no reason to add to the situation with snippy remarks.

Recently checked today and was awarded a 3 year scholarship to my top 3 schools after being “boarded”. I’ve heard that it’s possible to upgrade a 3 to a 3 1/2 year scholarship. Is this true? Also, I wonder what the stats are on how many people got 4, 3, and 2 year scholarships.

Upgrades occasionally happen but they are totally outside your control and you won't know until you get an upgrade. Plan on the 3 year and if it is upgraded you'll be pleasantly surprised. Oh yeah, knock it out of the park when you report to your unit.

DS went boarded/under consideration after 1st board. A week ago, went to boarded. Friday the 25th, went to Winner. The wait was frustrating to DS, but the look on their face was priceless when they logged in to see that WINNER at the top of the status page.

The way the system works is it is a queue system. The board will meet for X amt of days. If the pile has 2500 candidates and they only get through 2300 than the next 200 go to the top of the pile for the next board queue.

I agree with kinnem my guess is it has been reviewed, however it now is down to the OML. I know you are going AROTC, but let me use AFROTC as an example. There are 3 types, type 1, 2 and 7. There is no 3 or 4 yr scholarships per se like with AROTC. Some candidates that are reviewed may not be offered a scholarship for that board.
Why?
It can be as simple as they are on the cusp between a type 1 and 2, 2 and 7 or nothing. They want to see a larger pool before they call the ball. Same can be true for AROTC they want to make sure when it comes down to offering a 3 yr or 4 yr.

I would also say this...as gut wrenching as this is waiting to hear, this is nothing in the big scheme of things when it comes to your future and the boards in front of you. Each board you meet the decisions made will impact you even more and typically you will wait months for the answer.

Before any AROTC applicants start to freak out, this is NOT the way AROTC works. If you get your application completed and submitted before the deadline for the Board, you will be reviewed by the Board. This is why your status changes to "Boarded Under Consideration". Each Board goes through all the applications, it is Not on a Queue System, if there are 2500 applicants they will review all 2500.

AFROTC may work with a Queue, AROTC does not.

The confusion seems to be the switch in status to "Boarded" that happened to many on this board before the results were released. Nobody here can tell you why that happened, seems to be something new. This process has changed many times over the past years. At one point if your status changed to "You may now check your DODBERB status page" that meant that it was very likely you would be receiving an offer. Before that they didn't even have a Status Page, you simply received a letter in the mail for each school that offered a scholarship.

The process seems to change a bit quite often so it would be hard to apply what happens this board to what may happen for the next board. The best thing to try and do is to avoid being too stressed over things you have no control over, Review your file to make sure it's up to date with the best scores you have, and hold on tight, it can be a bumpy ride sometimes.
