How many slots are left?

How many slots for the class of 2017 are left?

No one outside of the admissions office knows for sure, so this is basically a guess: Assuming somewhere between 500 and 750 offers have been sent out, plus some for athletes, minorities, etc that didn't go out with the first big waves - now figure between 75 and 90 percent accepted their offers, so there are probably between 150 and 300 slots left.

As long as you haven't received a QNS letter, you're still in the fight.

No one on here would ever know that. If you are 3Q and have a NOM but haven't been told by the academy of your status, then you are still in the running for an appointment.

The official academy websites usually post information about the dates when all candidates will be notified of their final status.

The first batch of appointments was mailed on Feb. 22, and those who were fortunate to receive have 45 days to respond, which would put the deadline around April 8, Second batch was mailed on Feb.28, acceptance deadline is April 15. etc. WP Admissions Facebook page only provided the number of appointments mailed in Feb, nothing has been posted regarding March appointment mailings. It is estimated over 800 offers have gone gone out so far, assume that the quantities going out from now until the class is full will be less than the initial 500+ &152 quantities.

The past class acceptance rates (2008-2012) averaged 81%, another thread indicated the Class of 2016 acceptance rate was 88%. Regardless, they will end up giving more appointments than the projected class size of 1200.

Bottom line, more to come just not sure when and how many.

^In calculating your numbers, have you included the 200 or so at MAPS to be offered late April/early May?

We understand the 1200 is the projected class size, and the MAPS candidates would be an addition.

The current MAPS enrollees who receive an appointment to join the Class of 2017 would be included in the 1200. The estimate is somewhere between 175 and 200 slots. These are all estimates and as someone mentioned above, the only folks who know the complete story is USMA Admissions.

I will not post my detailed analysis - just say that there are about 200-250 slots remaining. I understand that about 50 will go out this week.

I was told by an RC that they were looking at 1100 plus but he thought that they would end up at 1150-2000 due to very high acceptance rates. However, with the budget cuts this number could be lowered at any moment.

Perhaps you meant, 1150-1200?

My understanding is that the class size would be 1200 and no more. Of course, it could end up lower, but I think they are carefully controlling the offers so as to not exceed 1200.

We have been given the same information. The WP Admission Facebook page indicates they are taking a break this week, and the next batch will go out next week. No indication of the "batch" size.

If you are a current candidate, you really don't care what the 'batch' size is when admissions publishes information. It is more of a binary type reply....either YES you get an appointment or NO you don't. How many slots remain means nothing until they are all filled.

If you are still in the running as I mentioned earlier, then none of that matters since it has no bearing on your 'chances' of getting an appointment. You are better off focusing on your plan 'B' options while waiting to see the outcome from plan 'A' then worrying over stats you can't control.

Is it safe to assume your 250 estimate does not include the USMAPS offers (quoted at 200 or so) that will go out in April & May

Our FFR indicates approx. 900 appointments have been issued to date, another batch will be mailed out late next week.

Hang in There!!

Good Luck to all!! As I have said before, those who are 3Q'd with a MOC nom keep your chin up. You have done excellent! Out of 4500 colleges across the country you qualified for the top schools. You're still on top of the world looking down.

Rough numbers.
Class size - 1200 max - maybe a few less.
About 900-950 offers have been sent-out. About 800 will accept. Another 200 slots to the Prep School. That leaves about 150-200 more slots. Some of those will go to people high on the NWL. Others will go to people lower on the NWL to "fill-out" the class. This is Code for selecting minority people in various categories to meet "targets".

Do you mean 200 Prep school slots are "reserved" for applicants who are currently attending MAPS and will enter WP with the Class of 2017?

Does anyone know how many will be offered admission to MAPS next year?

2017 Class Size

After my son's overnight visit in early February, the Regional Admissions Commander clearly told a group of us that the class size would be NO MORE THAN 1200. He said it twice with emphasis on "no more than."

There is no "hard" number. I have been told that - based on the % of acceptances - the class size will be in the 1130-1200 range.
