Was wondering how many of you still wear your ring today and how many years since graduation? If you can post a picture of your ring that is a huge bonus I love seeing the different styles and stones and love the different SA crests. Post away.....

If you ever get to USMA, go to the class ring display in the library. It has rings from just about every class. Unfortunately, most are from graduates who no longer have the opportunity to wear them and they were donated by the next of kin.

I was wearing mine pretty regularly until some recent medical issues that changed my finger size. I'll probably
get it resized soon. Forty two yrs now.

I've worn mine daily for the last 20+ years. I find it to be a great reminder of many things. As a cadet, the ring reminded me why I was there - graduation was the short term goal. Never give up. Today, the obvious reminders would be goal setting and a record of high achievement, but I also use it to remind me of the level I should be performing at. It reminds me of current classmates in the astronaut program, classmates who have sold companies to Google, classmates who are now at the O-6 level leading in today's Air Force, and ultimately - classmates who are no longer here to CHARLIE MIKE (continue the mission).

I only wear mine every now and then, not everyday. Mostly its for bigger events at work, BGO interviews or alumni events. Mine is a sapphire with diamonds around it.

I wear a KIA band daily to remind me of the many things that shiner mentioned. Unfortunately it takes 3 of them to cover all the names of USNA friends, classmates, Marines I knew. I usually rotate them. I have a few stand alone ones for close friends or for Marines I served as the CACO. I wear them as a reminder to live my life to the fullest for the ones who cannot and as a way to honor them.

I very, very rarely wear mine. Sometimes for events, usually military/veteran related ones. I spend my day on a computer and having a block of metal on my finger makes it hard to type!My ring is a star sapphire surrounded by diamonds and sapphires.

35 years now. My answer (and ring pic, except without the bling) is almost identical to what Hornetguy said...I only wear it for USNA related events, Agree 100% with the typing comment. I suspect those that wear them all the time get used to it, but I haven't worn with any regularity since graduation. (I probably stopped wearing during Nav Training; USAF makes you take it off, and taking a ring off is the easiest way to lose it).

Thanks for the picture I enjoy your seeing different ones.

I still wear mine, but not really during quarantine. This one has gone through a transformation. I messed by my ring finger playing hockey and I thought it wasn't going to go back down. So they had to recast a ring with more gold (same stones). Then my finger did go back down in size, so I had to send it back to have it resized again. The stone is a sapphire. Diamond dividers.

Originally I had limestone from the foundation of Chase Hall, but it cracked pretty early, so I went with the dark genuine sapphire.

A classmate of mine crashed in a plane on leave a few weeks ago and lost her husband and 9 month old daughter. She and her two year old son were burned. They have a long road of physical and emotional healing ahead of them, but it's been wonderful to see our class rally around her. We've raised $75,000 of an $80,000 goal on the CGA Alumni Association website and 800 hours of leave have been donated (she's a civilian and a reserve officer). I put my ring back on, even at home, then.

It's easy to get a little distant when you get out, but there are reminders of how close you are with your classmates, forever. The ring is one of those reminders.

Do you have to take ring off while flying or while in UPT or do you have to just take off during physical exercise ?

Don’t wear a ring while flying or other physical activity unless it’s one of those rubber wedding bands. It’s a good way to lose a finger. I pretty much wear one of the rubber wedding bands now unless it’s a special occasion.

Ditto for work on ships....

When I’m not in the flight line, yes. I earned it, and it’s a good reminder of some great memories and the legacies I’m supposed to be living up to

I wear my Citadel ring every day I'm not on ambulance duty - the ring busts right through gloves

I haven't even graduated yet (and actually haven't even gotten the ring yet due to COVID) but I'd love to show and tell if that's okay! I'm very excited about it because in addition to the class ring being special in it's own right, I had a piece of my great-grandmother's amber jewelry that my father gave to me on my 18th cut to size for the main stone. Because amber is soft, it will be a relatively rare wear, but it has even more immense emotional meaning to me and came out more beautiful than I could have imagined.

Very cool!

I should add... if you have your ring insured (and you should) check back now and then to see how much it is now. My stone fell out, and luckily it was in my families pool, so I found it. But in the process, I discovered the gold and diamonds in the ring had doubled or tripled. The stone alone was more expensive than the entire ring when I first got it. So I called the company to see how much my ring, with the features I originally got, would cost now. Then I went back to my insurance and increased the coverage.
