How much weight does the interview hold?

So how much weight do you think the interview holds? DS feels like he really nailed his interview. Now there is nothing left to do but wait.
 
A good interview can only help! The interviewer's report becomes part of the candidate file and provides additional data points for the Review Board to consider. While the interview report may reinforce or clarify items seen elsewhere in the application, the interview alone is not a deciding factor. A great applicant isn't going to be denied over a so-so interview. The interviewer's "impressions" of the candidate however are part of the report, so nailing your interview is always a good thing. :) Hoping along with you that your DS hears good news soon!
 
I think the most common advice is that a great interview will not overcome shortcomings in your application but a poor interview may be the last item that dooms your application. As a USMA Field Force Representative, the running joke is that I cannot get you and appointment but I could probably stop it if something was extremely disturbing. I would say that probably applies to all the services.
