Hello Everyone,

I am excited that I have completed the USMA Application yesterday. However, I am wondering how often the selection board meets? Thanks.

Your file has to be reviewed for qualification first which is done outside of the admissions committee meeting. That is done (at a minimum) by two RCs and a member of the board through a digital workflow process that could take a couple of weeks depending on where you are in the queue. The more files waiting for review, the longer it could take (which is usually later in the application window).

The Admission Committee meets weekly to decide which Qualified files will receive an appointment; however, their workload varies depending on the time of the year as nominations and qualified files don't come in at the same rate. It could be weeks or months after your file is qualified before it goes to the admissions committee if it even does. Only those files that are recommended to win a vacancy/appointment by the admissions department are reviewed. If your file is not number one in your district, senate, or other nomination source, then the admissions committee has no reason to vote on it.

My DS got his application complete on 10-19. On 10-28 he got a letter through his portal that said his file had been reviewed and he had been deemed 3Q (qualified academically, physically and medically). Now he is waiting on nomination interviews and plan B schools. The funny part was he applied to a plan B school. It took only 20 minutes. After this Academy process that was surreal. He said "That's It?"

This is the most difficult section of the process after completing everything, the waiting. Continue to improve your grades, stay out of trouble, and work on Plan B and C. Im not directing just at you but all readers who maybe in the same spot.

Good luck!!

Check your official correspondence. It will say candidate file qualified: you have been deemed qualified medically, physically, and academically.
