Well, obviously ensigns can’t become Chiefs. The universe would be turned inside out, clocks would run backwards, etc.

I knew an ensign once who wished he could’ve gone back to the Mess. He reported aboard after commissioning and to go along with Div O responsibilities and quals, as the new guy in the ward room he immediately became the SLJO.

This cracked me up.

A military aircraft had gear problems on landing, and as the plane was skidding down the tarmac the tower controller asked if they needed assistance. From the plane came a laconic southern voice: "Dunno- we ain't done crashin' yet."

I'm an east coast guy, but have heard many stories about S#$% River, and the things on the other side of the bridge

I reenlisted for Pearl Harbor and a year later my ship did a home port shift to Yoko. Subic was like a second home port.

It looks like COVID-19 preps. I don't know who in the pic was a sailor but the old man, Rick's dad, was a retired PN1.

——New Marine Corps Order——
Just released MCO 0825.2017

All Marines past and present upon death will no longer be authorized for cremation. Their remains will henceforth be freeze dried and placed into a casket with a glass lid. The plaque shall read as follows.

MRF
"Marine Ready to Fight

In the event of war break glass and add Beer."
By order of the Commandant of the Marine Corps"

There is no better weapon on the battlefield than a Marine and his rifle.
Except a badly woken up drunken Marine with his rifle.
