Humor for my Navy and Marine friends

Wait just a minute bubblehead, you guys call those pressurized metal tube things "boats", don't you.? :biggrin:

That is an outstanding photo, by the way. I used to have a big car that I always said "cornered like the Forrestal".

That reminds me of the old joke;

"How do you know if someone is into CrossFit?"
"They'll tell you before you even know their name"

Now I want a "Periscope Photo" thread. Those are a hoot.

I was never much of a "Marines are crayon eaters"guy but I have posted two of these in the past few days. There's something about that smarmy cat that makes me laugh.

Space is at premium on Submarines. Canned goods were always removed from their cardboard boxes before stowing on board. Fear of introducing cockroaches!

On a planned long trip, we would require more canned food then we had decent storage for... the solution was to store the cans in the passageways on the deck... that would be in the hallway on the floor for land lubbers. lol

Here is a photo of a passageway so stowed... tiers of bunks (beds) on port and starboard - left and right. cans on deck.

Notice that there is a pair of shoes in the right foreground and the bunk curtain adjacent is drawn closed... sailor getting some sleep.

Classic!
Hot racking for the enlisted on that sub class?

For lurkers, that means it was 1 rack for 2 people, who alternated sleeping in it. Hence, “hot racking.”

Yup. SSN-637 Class - Nuclear Fast Attack.

Or sleeping in the Torpedo Room with a mixture of nuclear and conventional weapons. (At least they didn't snore.)
