Hurricane/parents weekend

Closing the loop

Just to close the loop, here is the quote from the Parent's Assoc Website

In the event of inclement weather, Parents Weekend will still go on. Food has been bought and paid for, so as the usual policy no refunds can be made . Bring your rain gear and a waterproof camera :)

Local forecast update

Luigi is correct that any storm of this magnitude needs to be carefully watched. But, on the other hand, the media is known to hype these things.

This mornings local forecast continues to predict that Earl will pass to the east of Long Island, possibly brushing eastern LI . It also appears he will arrive a little later than predicted yesterday and may pass the Great Neck area sometime late Friday afternoon. IF Earl behaves and takes this route we will have a wet and windy day and evening for Friday. Nothing good foulies and a good attitude can't over come.

Earls track is all dependent on a cold front that is marching across the middle of the country and, if it arrives in time, will push Earl off the coast. If the cold front is early Earl will pass well off shore. If it arrives later then expected??? Well, let's just hope that doesn't happen.

I think what may be of more importance for folks traveling into the area, who are unfamiliar with northeast storms, is to know that regardless of what track Earl takes the rest of the weekend's weather will be close to perfect! As is typical with a hurricane the weather that follows is beautiful.
