There are only two safety schools on your list (Co Mines and U of AZ). Are you sure he shouldn't apply to a few more, given AFROTC Board isn't until after deadline for most colleges? I would apply to a few more safeties with AFROTC Programs (Host or Crosstown).

^^ true - depending on where you are located, for engineering, could consider CMU, Swarthmore, Columbia.

Thanks for the advice Dadx4, he’s already been accepted to Mines, UofAZ, & Portland. Duke, So Cal, & N Eastern are also still in play. DS put a lot of hard work into earning quality options when it comes to decision time. What I appreciate about the SA forum is that it provides decent knowledge to nudge our DS, but the best takeaway from this platform has been to not worry about the things you can’t control. Apply, follow instructions, and wait for results. The process is simple and deliberate, but also builds character. Good luck to all.

True. Follow the process and wait. But be patient, it can really drag out for some. My DS got his acceptance in late April 17', following a triple nomination in Dec 16'. He's a C4C now. Your DS has some really good schools on his list, best of luck with the appointment. I am a Northeastern grad, Go Huskies. I saw that on his list.

I was appointed to the class of 2021 this past summer, and I will tell you it takes what feels like AGES to hear back. I heard back from all my other schools before I heard back from the Academy. When you’ve done everything, you just have to wait. I know it’s tough, but appointments go out as late as April, and a few people got appointments in June last year. The Academy is a great opportunity and while you may feel like you’re being left in the dark, but BE PATIENT. Wait to hear from every school before you make your decision!

Do remember that for some of those type of schools, if you are way above the average they may think you are using them as a safety school and admit someone more likely to attend (See Tuft's Syndrome)
