Hello everyone,

A month ago my recruiter underwent my medical waiver hypothyroidism. My condition is completely controlled by medications. I can do everything I did before having this condition is as if I did not have the only thing that I should take my medicine every morning so that it remains controlled and can work excellent. I would like to know: what are the chances that my medical waiver will be approved? Who approves the medical waiver? How long does it take to approve? I am anxious to know the result and worried.:(

I will appreciate all your answers.

@nelifontanez - take a look at the FAST sticky at the top of the DoDMERB page. Follow those instructions, Mr. Mullen is the only one qualified to answer your question. Good Luck.

If the SA deems you are a competitive candidate they will initiate a waiver review. The review board may request AMI/exam/tests.

My DS was informed a waiver review had been submitted by his SA of choice in mid January. Early February a request for AMI was made via email by DoDMERB. His MOC called him two weeks later congratulating him on a LOA. He is currently awaiting a request for more medical info, or a decision one way or the other from the review board associated with his SA. Based on other forum members' experiences, this can take 2 weeks or six months. I assume this is an EXTREMELY busy time for all the review boards. All you can do is have patience with the process...

1. Are you talking enlistment?

2. Under certain circumstances, hypothyroidism, is not DQ, therefore a waiver is not required.

3. Comply with the FASTEST sticky under DoDMERB Tab in SA Forums for a more accurate answer.
