For my beast ('23), it was only height, weight, and pull-ups. During the first week of beast you will likely take a diagnostic ACFT.
This is completely dependent upon how much you socialize throughout the academic year. During beast, you won't have very many opportunities to talk to other plebes, especially outside of your company. But once the AY gets rolling, you'll be in classes with people from states you likely may have never visited before.
Sometimes, there might be WP club/group back home that treats particular cadets from your state. For me, the state that I am from has a club that occasionally orders pizza, sends corps cash, etc. to the cadets from that state. This could be an opportunity to meet people who are from your state.
It seems that beast is different for each class and '24 is no exception. Obviously no other class underwent beast in the middle of a pandemic with covid restrictions and guidelines. Since I am '23, I cannot speak on that unique environment, however, I will offer my two cents anyway. A lot of cadets' success in summer training directly correlates to attitude and effort. I have never seen anyone ridiculed for putting forth their best effort, even if they end up failing. Moreover, the experiences during beast are what you make of it. Try to keep in mind that your cadre is human just like you. They are in their first rodeo, just like you. It is their first time leading and your first time following. They make mistakes all the time and don't always employ the best leadership strategies and tactics. Thus, never take anything too personally!
In short, beast is a very physically and mentally exhausting, hot, humid, extremely active, and seemingly never-ending summer camp. And then one day, it ends and it is all over lol. The minutes will feel like weeks and the weeks will feel like seconds. PM me if you have any more questions
