Hi all,

I am going into the class of 2022, and I would just like to know the schedule for plebes on I-day. I am reporting at 0615, and the Oath of Office is at 1800, so I’m just wondering if anyone knows what happens throughout the day post processing?

Thank you!

You’ll find out.

Beginning I-day you’re going to spend 6 weeks not ever really knowing what’s coming next. Don’t worry about it.

Dear Materiuhl: Below is the schedule of events for I-day. Unlike the post above, the members here are very helpful, and won't brush your concerns off.

That schedule is nice and all, but it’s not what a new Plebe will be doing. Those are all things people can do while new Plebes run around Alumni and Bancroft. You will report in and have a whirlwind of day. You won’t remember much of it. Have you watched I day videos? There are tons of them out there. Haircut, tons of clothes, medical, unpacking all those new clothes, setting up your room, learning to salute, learning the oath of office, then the Oath itself. That is just a few of the items. It’s a very busy day in which you will start with hair and your own clothes and end it in T Court, sworn in with no hair and in white works. And pleber16 is right, you are going to have to learn to deal with uncertainty, not knowing, little control. That is part of the stress of Plebe Summer.

I am part of the Class of 2022 too and filling up my calendar with all sorts of events including a Christian ice cream social on June 27, 2018 for all incoming plebes sponsored by the Officers' Christian Fellowship at 6PM at 31 Upshur Rd at the home of Chaplain Robert Burns located at Worden Parade Field, across from Alumni Hall.

I will post other plebe-to-be activities on a different post.

I was under the impression I could wear my hair in corn rows, is that not correct?

Trackgirl, correct me if I am wrong here, didn’t you attend NAPS? What were the hair regs there?

The haircut requirement for Plebes (male and female) at USNA is being revised. Not sure if it will be published in time prior to I Day.

The first part of the plebe day is inprocessing. A bunch of stations in Alumni Hall for medical, haircuts, uniforms, gear issue, filling out paperwork, etc. That takes a few hours. You then make your way to Bancroft Hall to unpack, start meeting your squad mates, etc. You’ll eat lunch. You’ll learn rudimentary marching and saluting. Before you know it, you’ll be lining up for the Oath of Office ceremony.

Fully agree that uncertainty is part of the process.

There’s a rumor to this effect every summer. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I will add that every platoon needs to do the same things and the stations can't handle the entire plebe regiment at the same time so every platoon will do things in a different order. Get used to this because this is how things will work throughout Plebe Summer. Other than Pep, formations, meals, parades and sports period, the vast majority of the time will be spent on a whirlwind of different sports/Phys Ed, Marching practice, academic testing/processing, Sailing, Rifle/Pistol, etc and each platoon/company will do them in a different order/sequence.
