I’ve been seeing some discussion of a change of date for I-Day. Instead of July 1, which is still on the academic calendar, some are hearing that it might be June 29. Does anyone have any solid info on that? We have to fly, so moving things around is a bit of an exercise, but this is our second Mid, so we’re used to the changing plans and we book flights as refundable and changeable. Any info anyone has is much appreciated. And congrats to all you talented and hard working young men and women.

I have heard some discussion there may be a staggered reporting period over 2-3 days. Much is written in Jello 2+ months out.

Your P2B can get on the live chat widget on the Admissions website and ask an official source for the latest.

I wish I had the definitive gouge for you, but I suspect USNA leadership is giving themselves maximum maneuvering room to allow for pandemic complications. Talk about Plan A, B....Z. Since you already have a mid, you know total flexibility is the only answer.
Hahaha. Yes, we spent 4 years on the pointy end of “total flexibility.” I became pretty sure that there was a shadow council of Admirals just waiting for us to board a flight, wheels up, before they strategically canceled whatever event that inspired our trip. And, I’m convinced weekend liberty is determined almost exclusively on whether we are in town to see our Mid. Ok, I’ll stop. And my wife says I exaggerate.

We are very appreciative of all the info on this forum. Reoccurring themes are do your best, patiance/flexibility in exponential multiplicatives, and lay out plan A, B, C. At the risk of becoming too philosophical, instilling the aforementioned concepts in our future USN leaders is goal. For me, travel arraignments are becoming secondary;)

CAPT MJ is dead on..I'm sure there is a plan for I day ; but also suspect that it has multiple "options" to maintain max flexibility. I have been preaching Semper Gumby even before COVID. The good news, even if you have to make a plane reservation the day before, it will be the best $1000 you ever spent .

(Funny story, I once had to make reservations to fly from the Midwest to New York City to close a deal. We made the decision that we were close enough to the finish line to make the trip the same day we flew out -- literally made reservations at noon for a 3 pm flight. First class tickets were only $25 dollars more than Coach, so it is still one of the few times I've flown First Class).

The superintendent had spoken to students at NAPS recently and the current plan was that NAPS and I believe current enlisted would report June 30th a day before directs, and directs and all others in July 1st. Something about how NAPS is already acclimated to the military environment and would be there to help us directs. (*information told to me by a current NAPSTER)

NAPSTERS and any other prior enlisted reporting direct always report in a day early, standard routine. They have to do some admin for separating from their enlisted status the day before they transition to midshipman status, day-to-day accounting for no break in active service. Count your blessings if you get one as a roommate and take all the pro tips you can get.

They informed me at the candidate visit this past Friday that they are leaning towards it being on both June 30 and July 1 but they said that those dates are not concrete and it could shift around still.
Did they mention if it will be a drop off with no parents or normal I day?

They told us that they are still figuring that part out. The only thing they have set in stone is that following our arrival everyone will be having about a 2 week ROM period where those who have not been vaccinated prior to their arrival will be receiving their vaccinations so they told us if you can get BOTH vaccinations before reporting for I day, do it, however if you cannot get BOTH then just wait.

Ok thank you!!

Admissions gave the following to my Area Coordinator (Head of BGOs for my state) yesterday:

Induction Day will be over two days - 29 JUN and 30 JUN. Not the dates previously advised.

I believe that I've seen posts by current mids in other threads that say it will be a drop off. Whether that
has been posted or not, I fully expect it to NOT be a traditional I Day. Expect a Drop Off and
HOPEFULLY a Parents Weekend although I expect that too will have modifications due to COVID

So, I wonder if that mean 29 Jun for Napsters/Priors and 30 Jun for everyone else, or will they arrive on 28 Jun? I recognize that this is now turning into speculation on my part.

Just to clarify...everybody (even those fully vaccinated) will enter a two week ROM after I-Day? And this set in stone?

The words “set in stone” are generally not applicable in the military and the SAs, and even less so in time of pandemic. It’s been said here many times, and it’s never been more true: Semper Gumby. Always flexible.

Make fully refundable hotel reservations. Book flights on Southwest if at all possible. You won’t regret either one.

I'd recommend "expect the worse and hope for the best" scenario and mental preparation. I'd also recommend being cautious about any I-day plans until you hear them directly in an official manner from the decision-making source.

Hello @MidCakePa - why Southwest if you don't mind me asking (we are flying out of SLC UT and usually fly nonstop to BWI via Delta)?
