i feel like we are the last one Still CPR

Does anyone know the answer to this?
I would assume because since you’re qualified with a MOC nom and don’t get win your slate you go to the national pool that you would wind up waiting until pretty late in the game for your TWE?

It may seem like it, but February 19th isn't all that "late in the game". Most TWEs will be sent out by April 15th. Some will be sent earlier, but there doesn't appear to be a "standard".

Many Offers of Appointment will come out this month and in March. The first two weeks of April could be considered "late in the game" as far as an Offer is concerned, but many Offers are tendered after April 15th (several for medical qualification reasons, including waivers).

I’m not sure many offers are rendered after April 15.

Some are.

Does anyone have the stats for before and after April 15?

I'm not sure about USNA, but I heard about someone getting appointed to West Point on May 5 here on Guam.

I guess 'many' is a relative term. I've read that some years nobody gets an offer after April 15, and some years dozens do. Nothing official, just things I've read on the forums. But if I were still in contention, it would still be enough to keep my hopes up.

Okay. So DS is waiting on a request for waiver in his portal. If nothing changes then its an indication he is not headed toward an appointment. Based on the responses if he does not receive an appointment then the TWE could come as early as mid march all the way to April 15th. Sooooo last question - Does the portal update with an uploaded copy of the TWE? Or does it just come in the mail?

I think i read it comes as an email. Then portal updates after that

Last year, they started sending out EMail TWEs.

My DS is a college re-applicant for USNA this year and my DD who is in her senior year just received an appointment today to USAFA! We are very happy but at the same time very tough on my son as he remains CPR. He congratulated DD on a FaceTime call from his college but I know the wait now is even worse. I told him we are hoping and praying for him!

Here is one data point from our state in 2017:

By Jan 21 - 9 offered appointment
By March 25 - 7 more offered (total of 16)
By April 24 - 2 more offered and 1 waiting list

55% of 3Q with nom we’re offered appointment - 3 of the 18 were sports recruits.

So, from this data point, half the appointments went out before the Jan 31 MOC deadline. All but 2 of the remaining appointments were made before March 25.

Last year, they started sending out EMail TWEs.

The title of the email you get is: "United States Naval Academy Application Status Change Notification"

There are two options when you open that email.
1. The email has no content. This means you need to log into the application and check status. It can either be "No Appointment Offered" (most of the time) or it could be some other notification of contingency (medical waiver required, etc.).
or,
2. The email DOES have content and it says:
Dear Xxxxxx,

I am pleased to offer you an appointment to the United States Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2023. You should take pride in having successfully competed with outstanding young people from across the nation for admission into this historic institution. Acceptance of this appointment will be your first step on a challenging voyage of discovery that will afford you a world-class four year degree and commission as an officer and leader in the United States Navy or Marine Corps.

This program is highly competitive and will prepare you morally, mentally, and physically for the privilege of leading Sailors and Marines. For this reason, I suggest that you to carefully read the pamphlet entitled "United States Naval Academy A message to Those Selected for Admission" available within the Candidate Information System (CIS) https://candidateinformation.usna.edu/ITSD/cisp/acawq000$.startup. If you decide to accept this offer of appointment, please indicate so within CIS as soon as you have made your decision but no later than May 01 of 2019.

Induction Day for the Class of 2023 will be held on . After you accept this offer of appointment, you will receive additional instructions including your specific report time on Induction Day.

I congratulate you on your fine record of achievement and invite you to join the ranks of over 81,500 men and women alumni who have attended the United States Naval Academy, including one President of the United States, 24 Members of Congress, 53 Astronauts, 73 Medal of Honor Recipients, and two Nobel Prize winners. I look forward to welcoming you into the Brigade of Midshipmen this summer!

At that point, you log into the application and the status changes to "Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment" and then you have the option to ACCEPT the offer.

Lets revive this thread from last year! It reminds me that we are not the first set of nervous parents/applicants, nor will we be the last! This thread was a good reminder of that, and maybe next year we can be the ones looking back on all of our anxious posts and laugh.... I almost teared up reading the sample letter @Packerfan12 shared. 😍

CPR for DD too....waiting on nomination (only have a chance at one), but we live in an ultra-competitive state

There’s no need to be nervous and wallow in one another’s uncertainty. Go easy on yourselves.

Waiting can seem as if though it will never end, but you have to be at ease with the process and try to enjoy other aspects of your life. Things will work out one way or another and nothing is impossible if you continue to work hard.

.
Well .... A senior member of our church, Uncle Don, only worked from April to October. He spent all of November through March every year of his glorious life Trapping, Hunting, and Fishing.

We should all learn a lot from Uncle Don .... I sure do miss him. He is up stairs now.
.
So if you’re CPR, take your mind off of it .... do like Uncle Don would do, and go Trapp’n, Hunt’n, and Fish’n.
.

I think almost everybody is still CPR (since early Oct. for my son) but I am planning on riding this rollercoaster until about May 1st. Anything earlier will be a blessing. But grateful Plan B is in place for my son.

Kind of reminds me of how I have always planned to retire when I am 70 which is still a good ways off but then if I find myself financially set earlier than that it will be a big bonus.
