@sallye NSI will be going into it's second year as a formal program for all midshipmen. Last year, although there were some college programmers there, was the first year that scholarship midshipmen were required to attend. This year all midshipmen, including those at SMCs are required to attend. In fact, attendance is now a requirement for commissioning so folks who didn't attend last year will still be required to attend. I don't believe the dates are worked out yet, or at least they're not public knowledge. I'm sure the Navy picks up, ir perhaps reimburses, travel expenses.

Dates are set for NSI:
9-29 June
1-31 July
23 July - 12 August

“Your travel to and from you home is funded by the United States Navy for this event.”

NSI... that's the first I have heard of this? So new incoming Freshman Marine ROTC are required to attend this? If so... any idea of dates?

NSI has three phases, 09 June - 27 June, 01 July - 20 July, and 23 July - 11 Aug. All incoming freshman whether scholarship or college program have to attend.
