These Forums are an EXCELLENT vehicle for applicants, parents, advocates, etc, to talk about their personal experiences; get other folks in similar scenarios to exchange thoughts and ideas; and basically learn from others about the Service Academies, ROTC, Academy Days, and a myriad of other topics. Sometimes, inadvertently, misinformation, intentionally or not, can mislead others. "Periodically," I will jump in with pure facts to answer questions. If I don't have the exact facts, I will caveat my remarks as such. But, I saw something earlier today that said someone sent me something regarding a dental appliance with a specific name on the 18th of December. Though I get hundreds of emails, that was very easy to sort and no such email existed. That leads to frustration and misinformation. I will presume that the person sent an email to the wrong address, which also can happen from time to time.
So, when I can assist and contribute positively to the dialogue, I certainly will. I will not get involved in any special discussions as explained in my opening sentence. Those need to thrive on their own and it helps to make these Forums a valuable tool to many. Another valuable tool relegated specifically to the medical part of applications, that exists for an explanation of DoDMERB processes, can be found at https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil. It is located on the left hand side of the page under the tab "Questions on the process." It was just updated on Christmas Day, 25 Dec 2019.
Therefore, I humbly am returning on a periodic basis to help out.
