I have returned = I'm the Deputy Chief of DoDMERB for the past 28 years.

I want to give a shout out here to LE Mullen, who is the Deputy Chief for DODMERB. He quickly responded to my DD's waiver questions via email and then he called us at home on a Friday night. He spoke to both of us (parents) and my DD, answering a plethora of questions and creating a plan to help us navigate the waiver process. We are so grateful for his responsiveness and positive attitude during a stressful time. Thanks Mr. Mullen!

Welcome back! It's great to see you on the forum. I know you've helped countless people through the DoDMERB process and I'm excited that you'll be sharing your advice with us.

After reading the info (instruction guide?) provided by Mr. Mullen on the DODMERB site for how to best seek help with DODMERB questions, it felt like he was sitting down next to you at a get-together in the neighborhood explaining how to get your question answered while bypassing the bureaucracy. Kind of like Mr. Incredible working at Insuracare (maybe an avatar idea in there), but I digress. I shared the info with my DS and he felt confident submitting his request, only thing he struggled with was whether to send email to help desk at DODMERB or directly to MullenLE, he chose the direct approach and received a response about 45 mins later that the DQ listed in his file should be removed. Larry copied 2 other people at DODMERB and a couple of days later, DS received email requesting the specific medical records needed to clear the DQ. It was a burden lifted, I could hear tears of joy from my DS as he shared the email response with me. My DS was so concerned about the DQ he briefly considered just moving on to plan B. We're waiting for the submitted records to be reviewed and are looking forward to the moment when his portal shows he is 100% medically qualified

Larry's quick response and direct attention was like the sun coming out after a storm complete with a rainbow in the sky (cue the harps and music). As you read through the forums here of story after story where he has helped people navigate DODMERB questions and concerns, one thing clearly shines through. His caring for each candidate's situation when they seek out help. He is the rarest of gems, he makes himself available via the DODMERB site and this forum, providing email contact info, etc. My DS learned a valuable life lesson, how to advocate for himself. Thank you so much for your help. It is clear the work you do helping people is appreciated more than can be measured.

Perfectly stated and completely agree 1,000 times over!!!!

Dad_2024 - It is our honor and privilege to serve. Your DS' email message was a bit daunting for me. It was two paragraphs of what he needed to know....and then 16 pages praising his Dad!!!! (He promised me $5.00 if I said that :lolatyou:)

Mr. Mullen, you helped my daughter navigate the DQ process two years ago and she's doing fantastic at USAFA today. A million thanks to you and your efforts, and the hope you kept alive for my daughter and the rest of us!

Our honor and privilege to serve :)

Larry, you go above and beyond in generously giving your free time to help so many candidates. You helped both our sons' immensely and they are both thriving in their programs. Without you, who knows how things would have turned out. You are the Saint of Saints!! :groupwave:
