I opened a letter, white envelope, that said US Coast Guard Academy. I read the letter and it congratulated me on receiving my full appointment to the coast guard academy and it had my orders to report on June 29, 2009. I am so stoked:thumb:

WOW!!! That is awesome. Congratulations on your great news!!

Question....did you get an earlier letter saying that your file was sent to the review board??? That's what we got today, so I am hoping that means news of some sort will be on the way soon. If you did get that letter as well, how long ago???

Thanks and Congrats again :thumb:

Last year they were sent out in mid-April - A really nice white "leather" bound official appointment folder, along with lots of forms (uniform measurements, banking, life insurance, immunization proof, hometown news release forms, etc) and a R-day parking pass!

Okey dokey. But, if they offer ME and appt. y'all better watch out. This 40 plus mama can't keep up with all of the youngsters. My son is the applicant, so I will keep your well wishes for him! If he gets an appt. I suspect he may start lurking around here. But for now, it's just me.

Countdown already?

R-Day in 140 days. :thumb:

No....it's not that time yet, is it? I am hoping we get to actively take part in the countdown this time. Last year it was so exciting listening to those getting ready to head out to New London. But only 140 days? Wow, talk about a reality check.

Pass the time by reading the Parent's Handbook - you're gonna need to know all that stuff, and I'll quiz you when I see you in New London!

I hope you are right Luigi!

I am trying not to "jinx" it for son. Silly, I know, but he wants it so badly and was very disappointed last year when the wait list didn't pan out. I think that is why I come on here so much....I can talk about the horrible waiting game with others in the same boat, and not put any additional pressure or stress on my son. He is a lot tougher than I give him credit for, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do.

Now maybe I will take a little peak at the handbook. Couldn't hurt, right?

I dont see that any longer on the site.. :(

Question for Objee

Attn: OBJEE!
Hi, hey, I figured out your screen name: the bear at USCGA! Wow, that took me a while! ( I saw his picture on the virtual tour in the website ).
Anyway, I see one of my fellow forum members said he or she just got a letter indicating the file has been sent to the candidate review board, one step closer, etc. Are these notifications going out to everyone who gets reviewed? My son got one of these letters back in Nov. for Early Action, and then was deferred. Just wondering if the review under regular decision will also prompt one of these letters...giving him a hint of when his file might be looked at again? I know, we are clutching at straws...trying to read hints of progress into everything we read :)
I hope things are calming down for you guys and that you are getting some rest between bouts of mail opening, sorting, filing, computer updates...I am tired just thinking about it!
