I just received an LOA today!!!!

When was your application full submitted? Mine is still under pending review and I am hoping to get a sense of how long this could take

Eaglemurphy you could sit in that state until mid-April. USNA commits to letting candidates know by April 15th. Most candidates find out in Jan-March timeframe. Prepare mentally to wait until then. It is not first in, first reviewed. Also, even if reviewed it does not mean you will have an answer or even know. You still have to be slated.

My LOA is purely because I am a sport's recruit. Your application does not have to be complete to receive an LOA anyway.

@2024candidate , we are all watching your medical thread with interest, but remind us again, what is your sport?

The goal is an appointment and a successful career in the Navy. I stressed and stressed when my middle sons were applying to academies as they were the whole package in regard to leadership, sports and academics. Both turned down the opportunity to play D1 sports for the ability to double major and stay sane.

One waited till the end of February and the other mid April for USNA. Both were appointed to USMA mid January.

Enjoy your senior year. Spend time with people you enjoy and live it up within reason. Speculating and stressing on an appointment is time not spent well. I wish I had stressed less and enjoyed more during their senior years as both ended up where they wanted to be. Get those secondary plans in as they may end up being what you desire in the end. The academies are not the be all - end all for a commissioning source if your desire is to serve.

GREAT practical advice post from love4monsters. As exciting, stressful, focused, consuming as this process is... don’t miss BEING PRESENT for your senior year. Parents too! You can’t get that special time with your longtime friends/classmates back. Savor those times instead of pondering the unknown.

Easier said than done, but it’s super important.

My sport is for me to know and should have no importance here.

I take the point of the question, as that if your sport is one of the higher tiered ones, it can lend some insight into an early LOA. Vs recruitment for a lower tier sport. It’s fine if you don’t want to share that info, but please understand that people freely exchange ideas here. I took the question as nothing more than curious. Nothing to take offense at.

Congrats on your LOA. Good luck with your nomination and medical issue.

Sorry @HCopter ... that tone was unnecessary. I'm happy to answer more personal questions over PM! @justdoit19 , I realize that ideas are freely exchanged here, and that it is my decision what to share of course, but it just does not make a difference in my view. If I say football, and there DS or DD is a football player, that doesn't change anything in terms of an LOA. And if I say water polo, their DS/DD isn't going to suddenly become a star water polo player.

@2024candidate , apology accepted!
I was just curious, but I'm sure many like me are always rooting for candidates that come to the forums. It's inspiring to hear their stories, stats, and sports. (triple S!) If you don't want to share publicly, no worries! I wish you all the best, and again will be rooting for you re medical.
