I never knew the story of Teddy Roosevelt Jr. until now

Over the weekend, I was thinking about a client of mine who passed away several years ago. I never knew his history until his son mentioned around the time of the 60th Anniversary of D-Day that his Dad had landed at Omaha Beach. When I asked the Dad if he had ever returned to Normandy, all he said was "I'll never go back. I left too many friends over there." The subject was never mentioned again. However, the vision of the kid, plucked from a Nebraska Farm, standing on the beach in Normandy or trudging across Northern France in the rain has never left me.

This AM I was speaking to the son about business matters and mentioned that I was thinking about his Dad over the weekend. In no time, he changed the subject to Teddy Roosevelt Jr., whose story I never knew:
