Does anyone know if midshipmen are allowed to have I-pods after plebe summer? My son wants a new one, but I don't want to buy one if he can't have it.

i know you may want to get him one for a graduation present or something but really wait until he knows when he can use one and then get it. There's no point in getting it now and then a year from now when he can finally use it it'll be an outdated model.
My son kept his as his sponsor's house. Some of my favorite memories from this past plebe year are of sitting with him in the living room of their home while he attempted to: 1. Listen to his ipod 2. Read a book 3. Watch a movie on TV and 5. play a game on his computer and 6. Text on his phone.
All at the same exact moment. He'd look up and say "This is really hard but I want to do them all at once." I'd just sit and giggle. It was watching someone try to binge on media and technology.

He will not rate it most of the time, but I wouldn't rule out getting one. He can keep it at his sponsor's home or keep it in his room as long as he doesn't use it when not authorized to. Keep in mind though, he can use it on leave. Flights from the East coast to the West are long and ipods are nice to have.
to provide any info when I visited in April a few of the plebes had iPods in their conlockers. i think a majority of them have itunes on their computers and listen to it when they have privelages. Since it was the end of the year, my hosts' room and the room next door had out a wii, xbox and itunes playing.
