My city's NHL team hosted a pre-game, on-ice celebration for 47 of the 70 living CMH recipients last night that I was fortunate enough to attend. DS was with me. Local Marines accompanied the honorees. DS recognized one of the Marines as the local recruiter who has been stalking his high school. Present among the honorees was the second oldest living recipient of the CMH. He is 96 years old and walked without aid and looked sharp. He is a Marine who won the CMH at Iwo Jima. It was very cool.

Great post!
Mod note:
Moving thread to Academy/Military News for better exposure.

One of my most memorable flights was a flight to Montgomery many years ago. I went up to the gate to get my paperwork and saw an old man at the counter with mini Army wings on his lapel. I struck up a conversation with him about Army flying. At the end of the conversation he gave me his card and I felt like an idiot for not recognizing him. It was Mike Novosel. And I got to fly him to Montgomery.
