Hello, I am going to be a senior this year and am looking for things to boost my application this summer. I currently have many volunteer hours, Eagle Scouts, sports, etc type things on my résumé, but I'm looking to add. Would joining civil air patrol only for a few months help me or would the academy see right through this? Any other ideas? Thanks!

You should give CAP a try, and if you genuinely enjoy it then stick with it. If you join just to get extra points then the admissions staff will probably notice that, but if you're invested in it then it will be something worth doing, and it will help your application as a secondary matter. Good luck!

If you join CAP, do it for yourself because you enjoy it. Don't do something just to look better on your resume, your ALO and others will see it for what it is. CAP is a fun and rewarding activity. Do it for the benefits and the enjoyment of being part of a team. Other ideas would be to start a club in something that you are interested in. If you like paintball, start a club. If you enjoy making pottery, start a club. It is critical that it be something you enjoy. Find a sponsor/mentor and you could put it down as a leadership activity on your resume.

Best wishes. :thumb:
