If Navy gets new uniforms, will USNA as well?

Has everyone heard about the Navy's new uniforms? ...and the phasing out of summer whites and winter blues?

Will USNA reflect these changes and wear the new khaki uniforms all the time?

I happen to think the whites and blues look sharp...

I asked my Mid this question - SBD's and Whites are not going away. The working Khaki's are being worn by the first class to set them apart. That will be continuing. Just as in the Fleet SBD's and Whites will still be worn. What the Fleet is getting is the all season weight Dress Khaki's that were popular in the 40's. Just another uniform, not supposed to be replacing anything. What he stated, just like it is at USNA - the uniform of the day is the "minimum" required - you may dress in anything "above" that as long as it is appropriate. You typically do see numerous Mids in either SDB's or Summer Whites when the uniform of the day on the yard is working blues or khaki's. What USNA will be getting in place of the working blues is the new cammie's starting next year.

Enlisted uniforms changed. Officers are the same, with the addition of the new one.

The U.S. Navy has too many uniforms.

On a side note, if I fell into the water, the last think I would want to be in is a water colored cammo uniform. Heck, put me in waterproof blinking Christmas lights.

Doesn't the Coast Guard wear the blue coveralls aboard ship as well? I heard this argument from people when they were saying they didn't want the blue cammies; however, we already wear "water colored" uniforms aboard ship, so what's the big difference. Now, if those same people told me they didn't want them because 1)we already have a working uniform or 2)they are ugly then I would have completely agreed with them.

I personally can't wait to go out and spend another few hundred of my dollars on a new uniform.

Thanks, I guess I misunderstood the order about getting rid of the summer whites and winter blues. Now I'm happy!

KP2001, I second that the new cammies are hideous... I don't even understand the move to replace the current working uniform. It seems as if the current one is doing it's job just fine.

Besides, what' s the point of blending in with the gray of the ships..?!

No, no coveralls underway, except sometimes for boardings. Of course most of those uniforms can also be found under bright orange float coats or mustangs.

Sometimes the comments on this board literally make me laugh out loud. Thank you for that. It was desperately needed.

*agrees* :shake:
that made me laugh hard to... especially because I would want to be dressed in christmas lights too!!
