If you accept an AROTC scholarship can you use it for a year and then apply to the AFA the next year without a problem? Or do you need to apply USMA if you are in AROTC? The problem is that DS got a 4 year AROTC scholarship and is waiting on AFA and USMA but really wants AFA for next year but needs the money from the scholarship to attend college. Thanks

I have been told "yes", and many arotc cadets do this. It is not looked upon unfavorably.

We were told that DS did not have to commit to the Army until day 1 of his sophomore year if he received a scholarship. That if he decides it is not for him then he owes nothing.

The "Freshman Escape Clause" is only for HS SCholarship winners. If an on Campus scholarship is awarded, pretty sure there is no escape clause. Just to let y'all know.
But theoretically, that is ok.
