Don't ever, and I mean EVER try nicotine.

I've been off for 11 weeks now. Each day gets a little easier. But DON'T BE FOOLED

People will tell you that you can't get hooked, that it's no big deal. I realized I needed to get off nic when I'd wake up in the morning and the first thing I would do is reach for my vape and take a puff. When it's the first thing you wake up with, and you're doing the highest concentration possible, and it doesn't even get you buzzed, it's just something you NEED to do, its a problem.

Hitting it once with some friends, or at a party is the first step. Don't take it. Just decline politely, say you don't do it. Never EVER buy one.

I'm begging with you, please don't. It destroys your lungs and messes with your mind so bad.

I know we hear our teachers and parents say it, but hear it from me: Don't ever, and I mean EVER try nicotine. It only ends one way.

I still can't even stop vaping. Since January I've slowly lowered the concentration and now I vape but without any nicotine. Which is JUST as bad let me tell you.

It destroys your lungs, I know most of you are here to be officers, and if you're struggling during PT cause you can't breathe, it's gonna create a whole slew of problems.

If you're struggling, there's lots of resources out there for you.

https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/national-helpline -Here's a national help line for any addictions, and they refer people who call.

There's also a website for anonymous nicotine addicts, go check it out: https://www.nicotine-anonymous.org/

But save yourself the struggle, don't start. Take it from me, I'm off nicotine and still can't stop.

Make the right choice, and if you're struggling reach out to someone, myself included. :)

Jarhead: have you replaced your nic-free vaping with another habit? I started with spitting sunflower seeds and now chew gum to kick the urge.
Tried gum, it really does help.

I still vape, my brain still has the urge to get that buzz (that never comes)

When my grandpa was trying to quit smoking, every time he had an urge he'd smack a rubber band against his wrist and pop an altoid in... might have to resort to that soon;)

I'm glad you were able to quit, friend. Never go back

This is a huge deal at USNA. They start because they think it relieves stress. It does not. It ultimately leads to more stress, and costs money. It's a lose-lose scenario.

How about changing your avatar on SAF? It shows image of a person with a stick in the mouth.
Changing your avatar to see what you want to see ! Our subconscious mind is very powerful.

Is there something you really want - new laptop, gaming device, phone, etc.? Post photos of it on your phone, laptop, side of your bed, bathroom mirror, top of your dresser, in the closet, everywhere. Every time you choose not to buy vaping materials, put actual equivalent cash into a big clear jar with more photos of the desired item. Accumulate the cash, break the habit a day at a time, an hour at a time, ten minutes at a time, celebrate by getting that item.

@Jarhead713 I am so proud of you for admitting you are struggling with this and also for sharing your experience. Others will surely benefit. I am substitute teaching today, and I know a huge portion of our students vape. It is horrific. We talk to them about it daily and share the risks with them. I believe they would listen to a peer sooner than they would listen to an adult.

Kudos to you for working to quit, and I wish you the best of luck.

Maybe, as suggested, try a replacement. A friend of mine quit smoking with fruit flavored tic-tacs. Every time he reached for a smoke, he popped a couple of the tic-tacs instead. His wife said she wishes she had bought stock in the candy. It worked for him.
