IL nominations

hah got the same letter... disppointing. look forward to hearing back from kirk and congresswoman
 
Got a nom from Durbin! Wish I had gotten it a day earlier so I didn't have to go downtown today, but I'm still grateful. Interviewing with Kirk's committee was a very cool experience.
 
DS checked his USAFA portal today and found out he was nominated by Kirk.... He is medically qualified so looks like it is just waiting now.

He has had a very good week as he was just accepted into the Civil Engineering program at UofI. Looks like the backup plans are falling into place.

Good luck to all still waiting on nominations.

Thanks! He has Mid-Term finals starting today but left the house with a bounce in his step.... He knows there is still a ways to go but it was good to finally see some progress on the Academy front.
 
great news Rocko! love the "bounce in his step" comment. I hope my son has a bounce soon too!
 
Thanks and we wish you the best of luck. Almost 60 candidates interviewing for Senator Kirk's nomination is scary... And that was just for USAFA. I think they said 300 total for all Acadamies. Not sure if applications are down this year but if they are then WOW.

I do know that even should he not get into the Academy, he has surely grown as a person just going through the process and we are happy he did it.

Then I'm sure I'm mistaken and my son's said the same. It sure is a good thing I don't have to compete for a spot with my memory....
 
well I am hoping the numbers are less....and I am hoping they are going alphabetically by academy in their notifications too. :)
 
Check those mailboxes....

DS got mail today from both Senator Kirk as well as from Congressman Hultgren on nominations. Will have to wait until he gets home to see what they say. We already know he has a nomination to the USAFA from Kirk since it appeared on his portal Tuesday.

He is hoping to at least have an appointment to USMA from Hultgren. He applied for both USAFA and USMA under Hultgren but since the word is they don't duplicate nominations I assume he won't get one for USAFA.

I've stopped checking/getting the mail because DS gets home so late...I'd rather not know than stare at the envelope!

Correction. He is hoping to get a nomination to USMA from Hultgren.... I'm pretty sure Hultgren is not handing out appointments.:bang:
 
My son received a letter from Hultgren today with noms to USNA and USAFA! :thumb:

Having a proud mom moment. :smile:

DS checked his and he has received a nomination for USAFA and USMA from Hultgren! Very pleasant surprise to have a second nomination to USAFA.

The hurry up is over, now the waiting games begin....

Great news Rocko! We are still waiting to hear from Kirk (USNA) and it would be great to have one more in his pocket but right now, it's just great to have noms so that the process can continue.
