Title suggests the post. Seriously, ask me anything that you are confused about. I'm here to help as best as I can.

Did you always want to go to VMI? Or did you consider and or apply to service academies as well?

Yes, I always wanted to go to VMI. I applied to other SMCs as well, but ultimately VMI was my first choice for as long as I remember.

Hello! I am a current senior in high school that has committed to VMI. Do you have any tips for me in general? I have asked a couple of alumni and current cadets already but I would love to get even more takes and advice!

Just adding .5 cents here for what it’s worth:
Tip #1: Get in shape. VMI is tough and very physically demanding. Unlike anywhere else.
Tip #2: Try to blend in and not be singled out.
Tip #3: After Hell Week and once classes begin, focus on your classes and studying above shining shoes and brass.
Tip #4: Take advantage of the resources for studying and tutoring. VMI has a lot of resources for rats and upperclassmen as well.
Tip #5: GOOD LUCK!!! It may not be a great place to be as a cadet, but it’s a great place to “be from” as a graduate!

I'm seeing conflicting items online about VMI requiring or not requiring the SAT in its application process. Do you know if it does?

VMI does not require standardized test scores to be admitted for admission decisions. However, ACT/SAT scores are required to apply for ROTC scholarship and to apply for the institute honors program.

I see VMI spiders on more vehicles in Northern Virginia than any other college.

I saw a sticker on the way on today. "VMI Keydet" it read. I wanted to take a pic and blur out the license plate but the 95 500 was zooming this Monday before the Labor Day weekend.

Hi and thanks for the offer: When does a new rat mass typically get fitted and march in their cadet coatee uniform?

Class of '21, so my information may be dated - the rats will be fitted during the fall; however, they will not march in coatee until the spring (after breakout). They will march in class dyke, then gray blouse, then overcoat before being allowed to wear coatee for parade in the spring.
