We just entered the AMI portion of the DODMerb review. We were told that there was a color deficiency. I decided to just take a second look at the upload for the eye exam. It says 4 plates passed and 10 plates failed. (Would this not mean that my DS is "severely" color deficient?) However, in the continuation response for this part of the exam, the box for CAN distinguish vivid green/red IS CHECKED and not the CANNOT distinguish box. I believe it should instead say 4 plates failed and 10 plates passed. I e-mailed the case manager...any other suggestions...I just don't think that can be right.

I'm sure Mr. Mullen will chime in, but in defense of the opthamologist.

Distinguishing vivid red/green is a completely separate test. My DS only passed 1 plate but CAN distiguish vivid red/green. I wasn't in the room but could hear from the waiting room, "well, you bombed that test." LOL. My DS is only considered moderately color deficient by our eye doctor, BTW. I'm guessing the opthamologist knew what he was doing.

DoDMERB exams are performed by Optometrists.

4 passed and 10 can be an accurate score as can 4 failed and 10 passed. 4 of 10 is failing for all programs except for USMC, USAFA, AFROTC. Vivid red/green is only for West Point and AROTC. It's "possible" that either score can be achieved and still see vivid red/green.:wiggle:

Thank you so much sir. We were able to get clarification from the case manager at DoDMERB. We'll just have to wait and hope for a waiver.
